Five Lakes Trail


Trail Description.  This is a short (4 miles round trip), steep hike in the Granite Chief Wilderness, ending in lovely (unnamed) lakes that are great for fishing and swimming.  Trail can be crowded on weekends.

Difficulty.
Moderate for hikers.

Directions to Trailhead.    Off of Highway 89, the trailhead is approximately 10 miles south of Truckee, or 4 miles north of Tahoe City.   Take Alpine Meadows Road for 2 miles to the trailhead where you will park along the side of the road.  Camping is not allowed in the Five Lakes Basin.
